After months of planning and saving, my sister and I finally
bought our mom the new iPhone 6S in Rose Gold that she has wanted for quite
some time now. Even though my mom still says that it’s expensive and
unnecessary, we thought of it as a small (miniscule, even) token of our
appreciation for her. It’s simply impossible to repay her for all the deeds
that she has done for us, it was really the least we could do.
My mom has been there for me through it all: she was the one
who first encouraged me to write, my shoulder to cry on in my bad days, my
number 1 supporter for all the competitions I’ve been to, the person who always
pushes me to go beyond, my number 1 best friend in my good days, and my number
1 role model, just to name a few. When I went through my first heartbreak, she
was there to comfort me and encourage me. When I won my first competition, she
was there to remind me to be humble. When we didn’t have enough funds to go to
the United States together, she sacrificed her chance and told me to go ahead
and make her proud. When I walked out of the Khazanah interview feeling down
and uncertainty stroke, my mom came up with the idea to bring me to the beach
for a stroll just to enjoy the breeze. It was as if she knows just exactly what
I need.
My mother loves me even when I don’t see it, and she loves
me for exactly who I am. She didn’t choose to have me as a child, but I’m glad
she chose to keep me in her arms.
Thanks mom, hope you like the new phone.
