Yesterday
was the first get together and on-boarding session for the Yayasan Khazanah
Early Harvest scholars of 2016. Most of us had already met during the last
round of the scholarship selection process, but it was great to see everyone
again, minus the nervous faces and school uniforms.
There were 13 of us in total: 12 Global scholars and 1 Watan
scholar. The on-boarding session was a pleasant time for networking and getting
to know each other, as well as a discussion with the YK representatives about
their expectations of us throughout our years of study. The representatives
gave a talk about what to expect when in college: the various temptations that
exist in college, relationship problems, a hectic work schedule and so on. I
couldn’t help but feel excited and scared at the same time. Stepping out from
high school and taking it one step further in life has always been a scary
thought, but I am happy that I will at least be spending it with a group of new
friends.
Here’s to college: a new set of challenges altogether.
